On behalf of CAF South Africa and ENGAGE-BITC International you are invited to attend a community investment strategy meeting on Tuesday 16 March from 9:00 -12:30 (venue tbc shortly).

The invitation is aimed at CSR or Community Investment practitioners, Senior Development Managers, or those who are interested in taking the Community Investment agenda forward with a view to working in collaboration with national and international business. As you may know, ENGAGE is a network of partnership organisations and companies dedicated to expanding employee community involvement around the globe. The aim of the meeting is to bring together a group of likeminded companies in Johannesburg with a view to impacting upon key social issues through collaboration and partnership.

CAF South Africa and ENGAGE-BITC International will facilitate the meeting to look into innovative ways in which business can contribute to society by using the expertise and capability of local and international business, as well as engaging with the wider community and local government to effect change.

Agenda

  • Round the table and brief introduction of the person and the company (2 mins each).
  • Introduction to CAF South Africa: Colleen du Toit, CEO, CAF Southern Africa.
  • Session (mini training) on employee volunteering: Colleen and Maria-Jose Subiela, Project Director, BITC International.
  • Introduction to the ENGAGE global programme – case studies from around the world: Jennifer Todd, Programme Manager BITC International and Maria Jose.
  • Johannesburg’s most pressing social problems: Colleen.
  • Brainstorming on how to tackle an issue through collaborative action – examples of other cities in the back of our minds: facilitated by Jenny and Maria Jose.
  • Wrap up to put ideas together and if possible agree a path to a collaborative project: facilitated by Colleen and Maria-Jose.
  • Plan the follow up planning meeting: Colleen.
